Analysis of Ray Bradbury’s Novels By NASRULLAH MAMBROL on May 10, 2018 • ( 0). Although Ray Bradbury (August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012) became arguably the best-known American science- fiction writer, the majority of his work, which ranges from gothic horror to social criticism, centers on humanistic themes.

Analysis. In "The Flying Machine," the ethics of technological improvement with no clear goal in sight is called into question. Written in 1953 in the midst of the Cold War and nuclear proliferation, these were important questions when Bradbury was writing, and they continue to be important questions today.

In the novel, Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury utilizes metaphors, personification, and repetition to depict that ignorance is bliss due to people enclosing themselves from reality because of the pain brought, which promotes the desire for an untroubled environment.

The tone helps the reader build the characters life story, and how they feel at a certain time. Bradbury's prolific ability to paint a vivid picture shines in his description of Tyrannosaurus Rex, the prey that the hunters have come to kill. Metaphors fill his descriptions. The dinosaur has "watchmaker's claws," pistons for legs, and thighs of steel (6). It ran like a ballerina but loomed like an evil god.

Ray Bradbury’s “The Veldt” suggests the difficulties distinguishing the differences between reality and technology’s effects on distorting realities of life in a futuristic setting. From a third person’s point of view, the narrator illustrates deception in the destruction of the nursery as the story escalates towards the climax.

Bradbury predicted that people in the future would spend all their time using technology and unfortunately his prediction is true and relates to our society today. The overuse of entertainment technology has impacted relationships in the world of Fahrenheit 451 and in our world today.

Their inattentiveness towards their children alienated them even further helping to create a chasm that has become impassable. Ray Bradbury felt that a warning against technology was in order and wrote an exceptional example. This story is timeless because technology continues to grow and evolve as society asks for more and more.

Since literature is only records the history of mankind: “He hadn’t written in years. Magazines and books didn’t sell any more”, it also evokes deep feeling among men by bringing this occupation(of a writer) close to the heart of humanity. Third, Mr. Mead is close to nature.

Ray Bradbury includes a hidden treasure in his novel Fahrenheit 451 by contrasting two of his main characters. The overall message of the story describes a futuristic society with many technological advancements, and the prohibition of books, where Ray Bradbury shows how devastating a society is with mindless technology and lack of quality literature and interactions.
